Conference Report Published

The Final Report from the Third World Culturelink Conference, held in Zagreb, Croatia on 13-15 November 2009 has been made available under http://www.culturelink.org/conf/clinkconf03/clinkconf03rpt.html, along with some photos from the event (at http://www.culturelink.org/conf/clinkconf03/photo/index.html). The conference presentations and discussions have stressed the important role networks play in this new century. The planned conference Proceedings, due to appear in 2010, will fully reflect the rich diversity of ideas, approaches and practices presented at the conference.

International Round Table

The Culturelink Network invites participation in its round table entitled Intercultural Dialogue and Digital Culture, to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 20-21 November 2008, aiming to discuss and share knowledge about the possibilities that digital culture provides for intercultural dialogue, and to identify examples of existing good practices that allow for participation of users in virtual cultural projects, thus enabling democratic participation of citizens in the building of virtual/digital culture. Presentation of Publication

A presentation of Digital Culture: The Changing Dynamics, the latest edition in Culturelink's Joint Publications Series, will be held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 10 October 2008. The book is the result of discussions among experts, members of the Culturelink Network and IMO's researchers, in the course of the past few years on the impact of information and communication technologies on culture and the changes that in the context of the information era affect established cultural practices and concepts.

International Symposium

The Culturelink Network announces an international symposium on Virtual Culture and Its Impact on Cultural Tourism: Experiences from South-East Europe to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 14-15 June 2007. The symposium will present research studies and best practice examples of cases that confirm the significant role the virtual presence of cultural institutions and organizations plays and the impact it has on cultural tourism. It will gather cultural practitioners and experts from South-East Europe, offering a unique opportunity to gain insight into concrete data about the impact of cultural institutions' / organizations' web sites on the cultural tourism market, and to exchange experiences and enhance working practices.

Presentation of Publications

A presentation of recent Culturelink publications was held in Zagreb, Croatia on 16 March 2007. The three latest books from the Culturelink Joint Publications Series were presented by Professors Žarko Paić, Rade Kalanj and Ognjen Čaldarović, and by François de Bernard, Founding President of the Group for Study and Research on Globalisations (GERM), Paris. Collection of Papers

Representing a collection of papers from the postgraduate course on Cultural Transitions in Southeastern Europe - The Creative City: Crossing Visions and New Realities in the Region, held in May 2006 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the latest book in the Culturelink Joint Publications Series entitled The Creative City: Crossing Visions and New Realities in the Region gathers contributions by 17 authors who analyze the position of cities and their cultural role in the countries of Southeastern and Central Europe.

Conference Proceedings

Publishing a selection of scientific articles and essays by fifty experts from all parts of the world (Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia), the latest addition to the Culturelink Joint Publications Series, entitled Dynamics of Communication: New Ways and New Actors and edited by Biserka Cvjetičanin, is the result of a joint effort in creating a written record of the lectures and presentations delivered at the Second World Culturelink Conference (Zagreb, Croatia, 2005). The book identifies the new tasks and changing roles of cultural policies related to cultural diversity and the newly emerging digital culture, and calls attention to the impressive phenomenon of new ways and new actors in communication - all of which announces a restructuring of the global cultural space.

New Publication

The latest, ninth edition of the Culturelink Joint Publications Series, edited by Nina Obuljen and Joost Smiers, is entitled UNESCO's Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Making It Work. As the Culturelink Network carries themes of cultural diversity and policy on diversity at the core of its mission and research work, this book is an expected outcome of Culturelink's activities to introduce the latest initiatives on the promotion of cultural diversity to its members and wider audiences.
