Eu i - Documentation Centre

The Institute for International Relations (IMO) has been the host of the EU i - Documentation Centre since March 2008. This EU i builds on the long tradition of the European Documentation Centre hosted by the Institute for International Relations from 1991 to 2008.

Today this is the only EU i – Documentation Centre in Croatia having a direct contractual relationship with the Delegation of the European Commission to Croatia.

The main aims of the EU i Documentation Centre are to:

  • help research institutes and universities promote and consolidate teaching and research in the field of EU policies;
  • make information on the European Union and its policies available to the public, both university-based and other;
  • participate in the debate on the European Union and encourage research institutes and universities to take an active role in that debate.

The European Commission establishes EU i at universities or research institutions worldwide to support study, teaching and research of the European integration processes. EU i provide access for academic users and citizens alike to all kind of information on the European Union.

In candidate countries for EU membership they represent a nucleus for future EUROPE DIRECT network and they are under the competence of the Directorate General for Enlargement of the European Commission, i.e. of the Delegation of the European Commission.

The EU i – Documentation Centre has free access to CELEX, the Commission's legal database which contains the entire body of the EC law, including legislation, preparatory documents, Case law and parliamentary questions.

The EU i – Documentation Centre has developed and administers the website EnterEurope which gathers all relevant information related to EU topics for university public and wider audience. This is also central Internet reference point for gathering the information on the activities of future EU i centres in Croatia

IMO – EU i Documentation Centre is an active member of the European Information Association (EIA) based in the UK. The EIA is an international body of information specialists whose aim is to develop, coordinate and improve access to EU information.
