Senada Šelo Šabić

Senada Šelo Šabić holds a Ph.D. in political science from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy where in 2003 she defended a dissertation entitled State Building under Foreign Supervision: The Case of Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1996-2003. Senada earned two Master's degrees – one in peace studies from the University of Notre Dame, USA and the other in international relations from the University of Zagreb. Her undergraduate work was in English language and literature at the University of Zagreb.
Senada's research interests are broad and diverse, but the focus has been on international interventions, state building, post-conflict rehabilitation, security and stability in Southeastern Europe. She has contributed chapters to books and published several articles in local and international journals. Senada has also been engaged in other capacities – as consultant, project coordinator, evaluator and advisor, while her professional experience includes working both for the government and the private sector.
Senada joined the Institute for International Relations in 2004 as a research fellow and works, amongst else, on regional cooperation in the field of security; NATO/EU approach to and capacity for security building; as well as on expanding theoretical work on concepts such as exit strategy, accountability, politics of victimhood, and local empowerment.
